Irène Joliot Curie
The life of Irène, Marie and Pierre's oldest daughter, parallels her mother's in many ways: conducting research with her husband, Frederic Joliot; winning the Nobel Prize in chemistry (for their discovery that radioactive materials can be artificially created); serving as professor at the Sorbonne; as well as dying from complications related to long-term exposure to radioactivity.
