• GEOLOGIST & ASTRONAUT
• FIRST American woman to walk in space
• Earned her doctorate in geology, and before becoming an astronaut she worked on expeditions studying both Atlantic and Pacific seabeds
• Logged more than 22 days in space over three different space missions, including the historic mission that deployed the Hubble Space Telescope
• Served as both the Chief Scientist and as Administrator for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
• Awarded many honors, including the Haley Space Flight Award, the Adler Planetarium Women in Space Science Award, and the National Audubon Society's Rachel Carson Award
• Inducted into the Astronaut Hall of Fame
• In 2020, Sullivan became the FIRST woman to dive to the bottom of the Mariana Trench
