• LEADER in the development of modern abstract algebra
• Her Noether Theorems, published in 1918, illuminated the relationship between symmetries and conservation laws in physics, and have been called one of "the MOST IMPORTANT mathematical theorems ever"
• Attended math classes at the University of Erlangen, but could only audit courses because she was a woman
• Taught at the university level for 25 years, but was unpaid for many of them... because she was a woman
• Left Nazi Germany for the United States when she and other Jewish academics were fired from their teaching positions
• Her paper, Invariante Variationsprobleme, resolved a previously unsolved problem with general relativity (even Albert Einstein hadn't been able to figure it out)​
• When she died, Einstein wrote that she was "the most significant creative mathematical genius thus far produced since the higher education of women began"
