• DIRECTOR & STUDIO EXECUTIVE
• World's FIRST female film director who INVENTED narrative film
• Worked as a secretary for the founder of Gaumont Film Company, a French camera manufacturer
• Borrowed company equipment to make her own films, the first of which, La Fee aux Choux, was the world's FIRST narrative movie
• Promoted to head of production, where she CREATED many of today's studio infrastructure standards
• Moved to New Jersey, an epicenter for moviemaking at the time, and started her own studio, the Solax Company, years before Hollywood existed, becoming the FIRST woman to lead a movie studio
• Filled several roles herself, writing, location scouting, producing, casting, and directing more than 1000 movies (mostly short, which was then standard practice)
• CREATED many innovative sound, color, and special effects film techniques, as well as pioneered the concept of delving into a character's psyche
• Her films were also progressive in their content and casting, often featuring strong female leads, and even casting women (including herself) to portray male characters
