In the 1960s, when most marine biologists trawled for ocean life and studied it in labs, Earle stayed underwater, SCUBA diving to observe plants and animals in their natural habitat
FIRST woman to serve as Chief Scientist of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
Set the WORLD RECORD for untethered diving, walking 1,250 feet beneath the surface
Nicknamed "Her Royal Deepness"
Founded Mission Blue, an organization that advocates for the creation of marine sanctuaries, and travels the world educating others about the importance of ocean conservation
