• HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVIST
• Cofounded Hull-House, living there with other like-minded humanitarians and providing social services such as kindergarten classes, a library, art gallery, and adult education for those in need, particularly poor immigrants
• One of the most well known social reformers in the country through her work and writings
• Helped found the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, and the American Civil Liberties Union​ (with Helen Keller, among others)
• FIRST American woman to receive the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE
